Calling all budding entrepreneurs
23 Sep 04

30% of those starting a business just do not know where to seek advice.

One place they can turn to is the National Federation of Enterprise Agencies (NFEA), who offer free advice and support to all entrepreneurs as they step out into the unknown. But, George Derbyshire, Chief Executive of the federation highlights that in the form of a compact and handy guidebook there is more support at hand. Derbyshire comments that Robert Ashton’s, The Entrepreneurs Book of Checklists, “will be invaluable to anyone starting a business.” This innovative new book will be launched this September at the NFEA annual conference.

The Entrepreneur’s book of Checklists is a valuable aid to anybody either planning, or building a business. When the busy entrepreneur is plagued by unanswered questions and unsolved problems they can flick to the relevant checklist to find advise and support. Not only will these checklists help entrepreneurs find answers, they will also provide entrepreneurs with the questions they need to ask. The old adage that ‘you don’t know what you don’t know’ is one of the most dangerous facts of entrepreneurship. Each checklist is written to give entrepreneurs an insight into a specific facet of entrepreneurship. Some lists are inspirational, others practical and all will make sure that entrepreneurs ask themselves questions and consider options that would otherwise have never occurred to them. Here then is the value in this impressive volume. It gives entrepreneurs the experience that they do not yet have, neatly parcelled in a series of carefully arranged lists.

Research shows that 75% of would-be entrepreneurs are put off by the fear and uncertainty that lies ahead of them (LloydsTSB survey). Robert Ashton’s book of checklists provides would-be entrepreneurs with the experience they lack, and the courage they need to take the giant step into the unknown.

The Entrepreneur's Book of Checklists published by Prentice Hall Business, September 15th 2004.
