Cisco Press launch new 'First Step' series
26 Apr 04
Cisco Press announced today the launch of the First-Step series, a new addition to the Cisco Press line of networking technology titles. Debuting with six titles in 2004, the new series promises to provide an easy-to-grasp introduction to today’s core networking topics to readers with little or no previous experience in networking. Written in a clear and approachable style by education and networking experts, titles in the First-Step series serve the need for introductory level books that provide both broad and complete coverage.
First-Step titles target individuals interested in networking topics or in broadening their core competencies, and will be relevant for those within the networking industry who are not networking professionals (e.g., sales and marketing personnel, customer service representatives, consultants, etc.), yet need to have a basic understanding of networking concepts. By creating this new series, Cisco Press is able to provide readers, ranging from true beginners to expert-level professionals, with a roadmap for learning whether via certification study or other networking technology titles.
According to Executive Editor Jim Schachterle, “The First-Step series is an exciting addition to the Cisco Press portfolio. With the release of Computer Networking First-Step by Wendell Odom, Cisco Press, for the first time in its history, will have a book for any reader that wants to learn about networking - from the absolute beginner to the seasoned professional needing to expand their core competencies.” Authors with proven ability to teach all audience levels, paired with the strong Cisco Press brand and the support of Cisco Systems, places the First-Step series in a unique position to provide a true starting point to understanding computer networking.
