Paul started his career in press production, design and media planning. From 1971, he spent 2 years working in the music industry where he worked on the design and production of record sleeves for groups such as The Who, Slade and Led Zeppelin. In 1973, he got his first job in book production with Routledge & Kegan Paul, where he spent 10 years, he became the senior estimator and paper buyer.
 
In the early 80's he started in production management at VNR, a Thomson company. Between 1986 and 2004, Paul held the post of Production Director at three other publishing houses - Addison Wesley, Prentice Hall and Nelson Thornes.
 
Early in 2004 the opportunity of a Production Director position within an International context at Pearson arose. The Production and inventory management team have focused on cost savings, process improvements and Content Management in the last two years and Paul also began working with the EPM team in the latter part of 2005.
